Pastelgrain is a another unique pastel surface from Clairfontaine in France. Pastelgrain is produced on a premium card surface (360gsm/170lb) that is both acid free and lightfast. It is ideal for use with all dry media and resistant to water, alcohol and solvents so that it can be used with wet media under painting. It’s characteristics are the same as Pastelmat with the following distinctions:

Rougher Surface:  Noticeable texture to the surface.
More Textured Results: Intense, creative surface that accentuates textural effects and adds depth.
Control: Application with thin or impasto lines.
Layering: Superimposition of pastel layers with saturation effect.
100% Natural: Vegetable sizing with no added chemical abrasives.
Erasing: Possible to erase without damaging surface.

Pads are available in 3 sizes and 2 different color combinations. There are 3 sheets of each of the four colors. Pads also have protective interleaving sheets between pages.
